This may be done during a short prayer before serving the meal or before the cake is cut. The unity candle, then, can be decorating the cake table. As the bride and groom cut the cake and pieces are served to the guests the candle symbolizes the couples new bond shared with all the guests also.

Though unity candle is not indispensable at the wedding or reception, many brides and grooms include it with all the wedding planning activities, it should be remembered that it can be made unique, interesting and special to the couple getting married in many years.
