Pre wedding Reception Activities

Though people are worried about many things while planning a wedding they generally forget how to engage and entertain the guests before the beginning of the official wedding reception.





There is no hard and fast rule that he bride should entertain the guests. They have already attended your wedding ceremony; will soon enjoy music, food and drink. But while the bride and groom have their photo session the guests are left to find for themselves chatting with other guests and wonder when the buffet will open.

You can thus consider a few pre reception options for keeping wedding guests entertained until the reception begins. Here area few traditional options and others not so but all the same of fun.

Traditionally, first, you can provide drinks to the guests as also some snacks. During summer lemonade and iced tea can be provided. In winter coffee and hot tea or even hot cocoa, based on the style of the wedding can be provided. Supplying a light snack is a good and it can be some appetizer food or just nuts specifically the meal is going to be heavy.

In the non traditional options a few brides desire to entertain the guests in the truest sense of the word with clowns or live music.

Better you consult the party planning pages of local children’s or parents’ magazine if want to embark in to the fun and funky world. You find there people who entertain your children at the birthday parties and also gladly take wedding jobs. A clown can be hired to make balloon animals for the kids or to juggle a few things. A few clowns are true entertainers and gladly get the crowd involved by getting items out of women’s purses and juggling them.

Another non traditional choice to entertain your guests is to hire a band party music before hand. For classical music at your wedding have a band come and play covers of current pop songs or let the hired band arrive a bit early to entertain guests awaiting the start of the full reception.

It is not too costly to hire a children’s band if there are many children at the wedding and the band can entertain the children for a bit. Granting that the children are a little bored at the reception they will till cherish the memory of the earlier entertainment with them. Besides, as the children are being entertained the adults can have a chance to chat and surely they will thank the bride for considering them that way.

To include the restless crowd in the reception before it begins is another choice for entertaining the guests. At this great time you ask people to sign the guest book and write some meaningful comments as they will have more time while going into the reception hall.

If the reception and the wedding ceremony are at the same place and the bride and groom have a photo session there seems to be no dilemma or confusion in entertaining the guest. But in fact there is a dilemma.

At this stage servers can go round with appetizer trays or do some of the above mentioned suggestions. In one popular option there is no entertainment for guests at all. If the wedding is at a historic house or mansion, before the reception the guests can be given a tour of the property. In case the wedding and reception are held at the couple’s new house a tour of the property might be fitting and in place (provided the guest list is fairly small).
