Outdoor Wedding Reception Activities

Many activities that cannot be conducted indoor will come into play if the wedding reception is held outdoors. Games can be planned based on the outdoor themes and carried indoors if part of the reception is held indoors.





According to when the reception is held, park or in a farm you can plan activities galore suitable to the situation.

A blindfolded wine tasting game is real fun. The guests and wedding party members are the participants in this game but not the bride and groom if they are wine drinkers. Blindfold about half a dozen volunteers and let them do a blind taste test. The volunteers should guess which wine is the pinot noir and which the cabinet. The winner of this game gets a bottle of wine as the prize.

Reception at a country club or a golf course has gold elements and the game and its activities can be included in the reception. You can have a “hole in one” contest or e driving contest to see which guest has the best strike. In a “who gets the centerpiece game”. You ask people to guess how many golf balls are in the vase and in the floral centerpiece. A large vase or a clear container can be kept with golf balls and the guest could guess how many golf balls are in the vase.

In another game on the dance floor everyone may be asked to include the best golf swing for one particular song.

If your reception and ceremony are outdoors and many guests are present, have outdoor activities and maintain the level if formality or informality. For example, if it is a park reception the guests might enjoy a “walk down memory lane”. A private lane with potted plants or arbors might be created for guests to walk along. Along the way the guests shall see the pictures of the bride and groom at various stage in their lives. The guests should record their thoughts and memories along the way.

In a casual wedding and reception the guests should be informed of a ball game in advance or some other fun game. Women can bring in sneakers. The photos of men and women playing football or base ball with in suits and sneakers and dresses and sneakers respectively will be real fun to look at and enjoy.

A challenge activity is barefoot dancing in the grass or Frisbee toss in the back yard. There can be swimming activity after the reception if there is a pool in the yard.
