Whether you like to accept it or not, a wedding speech does have an effect on how the evening would follow. When you give a great speech, you will touch the bride and groom making them pleased and making them remember the speech forever. However, on the other hand, if you spoil the wedding speech, it would leave a very negative effect at the wedding. So, you must follow the six following things you must no do or say when delivering a wedding speech.





1. Disrespectful language must be avoided

You have to study the crowd in front of whom you are going to present your speech. You must keep in mind that the crowd will also have children, so you must avoid certain improper language. You can figure out several ways to narrate something that does not have to include abusive language or curses.

2. Choosing the wrong stories to deliver at the speech

Avoiding certain stories that do not go well with the occasion is very important. Any good wedding speech that you would have heard definitely would not include the bachelor party or spinster party in detailed. Whatever the stories be, either funny or emotional, it should not cross the limit and has to be clean.

3. Do not pull in ex-lovers in the speech

A wedding is only about the bride and the groom. So, ex-lovers must never be brought up at any moment. You must avoid bringing up the names of an ex-girlfriend, ex-boyfriend, ex-wife, or ex-husband. Any story you narrate must only have the bride, groom, and your relationship with them.

4. Avoid bumpy jokes

Having jokes all through the speech is a very good idea, provided it stays intact and makes people laugh. You must be sure that you do not embarrass the bride or the groom with your jokes as the wedding day is their day to glitter, and your joke must not spoil that.

5. Do not eat or chew gum while delivering the speech

You have to be clear when delivering the speech. So, avoid chewing gum or eating some food when delivering the speech, however nervous you appear to be. Stand straight and breathe deep before giving your speech in order to be clearer.

6. Getting drunk is not the right thing to do while delivering the speech

You must not ever get drunk before giving your speech. Although, every wedding is flooded with good drinks, you can have them after the speech. If you feel a glass of wine would help you ease your tension, that is allowable, but it must not cross two glasses.
